a little throat clearing to start

So I told my wife that I wanted to start writing a blog. ‘Why?’ she asked me. That was a good question. It seemed sensible to start with a post about why I think I’m doing this…

I’ve been trying to follow Jesus for more than 20 years now. Most of the things I was learning 20 years ago (like my 12 times table) have become easier over the years. (8 twelves are 96 - see!) But in my journey with Jesus I feel like a rookie, but more than that I feel like it’s getting harder and not easier.

Don’t get me wrong, my desire to follow him hasn’t faded, neither has my belief that he really is the way, the truth and the life. I’m as committed to the journey as much now as I ever have been. It’s just that the world seems more complicated than it used to.

So I want to join the discussion, trying to work through a theology that is faithful to God, works and is practical. I’m hoping that other people want to join in, but to be honest the act of writing about stuff will help me to think it through.

So, after this scene setting post, I’ll probably try and blog once a week or so, starting this weekend.

  1. Journalling can be great fun and a good discipline to have. My blogging attempts have also been met with a “why” from my better half. But then, they also didn’t last very long…perhaps she was right!

This looks like an interesting journey and may God bless it!
